April 4th, 1968....42 years ago

Early morning, April 4th, a shot rings out in the Memphis sky, free at last, free at last, they took your life but they could not take your pride....In the name of love, what more in the name of love.
Sunday Bloody Sunday - U2.
It was 42 years ago, that he was silenced. Slowly but surely the United States is realizing Dr. Kings dream that if we are to be a great society it is also imperative that we be a just society. So despite the greed on Wall Street and despite the setbacks of the last decade, the "moral arc of the universe continues to bend towards justice" as he so aptly stated in the "How long -Not long" speech after Selma. On the 42nd anniversary of his death, I am still optimistic that we are building a nation that will truly live up to the words that announced its birth in the Declaration of Independence.
And finally to remember him....here is his mountaintop speech, the day before he died...so beautiful and so prophetic
